Human beings always long for empiristic explanations and arguments for his environment. Human minds tend to find abstractions and relations between symbols, forms and objects.

Mathematics was able to explain nature‘s aesthetic by using geometry and formulas (e.g. golden ratio) and to define the human body with proportions and ratio, whereby the perfect human shape was accurately defined (e.g. Da Vinci‘s „Vitruvian Man“ or Le Corbusier‘s „Modulor“).

This aesthetical image of human proportions and ratios led to a problem: the idealistic and abstracted archetype completely restrains human‘s individuality and transforms humans to objects therefore.

The idea of an archetype was recycled in postmodern times. For example after World War II, in the United States of Amerika, amounts of human measurements have been taken, to set basic rules for ergonomy.

Those rules and guidelines are even in nowadays magistarial for design. But also in earlier times a human archetype, regarding ratios in space, has been defined by Ernst Neufert.

This german architect (march 15th 1900 - february 23rd) became famous with his lifework „building design textbook“ (1st edition 1936). Until now it counts to architectual standard literature, containing a precise description of human ergonomy and it‘s surrounding while it is a constitutional principle of standardisation and construction of space.

Neufert supersedes any kind of individuality and autonomy from the design process. His „building design textbook“ is coined by stereotype and regularity, which leads to critic and questioning.

The concept „Human Reification, or Ernst Neufert‘s definition of space“ describes a critic through a photographic series of scenarios from everyday life.

The photos in black and white remind of the human reification and idealisation and monumentalise moments from daily grind.

Und Menschen auf dieser Welt ist es wichtig genug diese Momente festzuhalten.

Doch was ist es, was uns ausmacht? Was dokumentiert wirklich unsere Existenz? Sind es Familienfotos, die lachende Gesichter, Hochzeiten, Ferien, Geburtstage zeigen? Sind es die glücklichsten Momente unseres Lebens? Ohne Tragödie? Oder sind es Schnappschüsse von den kleinen Dingen, die wir täglich benutzen, die wir täglich an uns tragen? Die Art wie wir wohnen, wie wir unseren Lebensraum einrichten?

The shutter is clicked. The flash goes off and they've stopped time, as if just for the blink of an eye.

I shot three pisctures with different exposure and merged them to one. Called HDR (High Dynamic Range). From a high dynamic 32-Bit picture is it possible to get out these details.

There are two kinds of events: The "Easy" ones (for example theater, zirkus, fashion show or music concert - you have always good light and great moments, if you dont get good photos, think about you are doing the right job?! Or, bare possibility, the organisation was really bad) ...

and there the "Difficult" ones (mostly places, which are prepared for an event, with hudge spaces for people to walk throw - to see the details and the design, in this case you have to catch the light and wait for the moments and never forget about... to have your own point of view!

Never thought that this picture would become so famous.

I remember the time I had this amazing opportunity to take photos of Miss Nicaragua.

It started with my great idea to go to the newspaper and ask for work.

Talked to the chief of photography and he said come tomorrow and we will see.

The next day, sitting in the office, bored and waiting for some action, one girl came over to me and said,

let`s go, you will take photos of some nice girls.

Well, never imagined that on my first day I will take photos of Miss Nicaragua.

The newspaper liked the photos I took, so they send me the next time with the girls to the Lagun,

where I took this "Shot".

In "Black and White" I published this photo just in my Flickr Account and Facebook,

and never thought that this will be copied a few times and become one of my greatest work...
